Last week, our bestselling author Charmaine Wilkerson celebrated the success of her novel, Black Cake in Rome, Italy, where she lives.

Translated as Dolce Nero and published by Mondadori’s upmarket imprint Frassinelli, the book hit the Italian shelves on 14th June looking extra special with a double cover.
An immediate New York Times bestseller in the US, the book was also off to a great start in Italy as it was chosen as a 2022 Summer Pick by Radio Monte Carlo, one of the most popular radio stations in the country.
Charmaine was joined by our International Rights Agent, Valentina, at an event hosted by Borri Books in Roma Termini.

She was welcomed by a generous crowd invited to listen to a presentation and short reading from the book, followed by a Q&A session which sparked important conversations about identity, culture, and the sense of belonging. After the event, Charmaine signed copies for her readers.

Huge congratulations to Charmaine for her Italian success!
