We are so excited to be celebrating the publication of the The Miraculous Sweetmakers: The Sea Queen, the second novel in the Children’s fantasy series by Natasha Hastings and illustrated by Alex T. Smith, out today in the UK with HarperCollins Children’s Books!
With its first book The Miraculous Sweetmakers: The Frost Fair chosen as Waterstones’ Book of the Year 2022 and Book of the Month in November 2023, the sequel follows Thomasina and Anne who are looking for adventure when their friend Henry disappears, dragged into the depths of the River Thames by a mysterious-looking creature. In their quest to save him, the girls discover Free Waters: an impressive, glistening underwater city home to mermaids and sirens. But the enchanting city is under threat by an evil Sea Queen who has taken Henry, who gives them three dangerous and impossible magical tasks if they are to save his life.
The Sea Queen is set to be published in the US this December 2024 with HarperCollins Children’s Books as well, in hardback.
Natasha wrote most of The Frost Fair on the bus to and from work, often passing by the River Thames every day and leaving her spellbound. The Miraculous Sweetmakers is her Children’s debut series.
