Anna Fargher’s wonderful middle grade novel, The Umbrella Mouse, has been shortlisted for the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Awards, one of only fifteen to be chosen. The awards, in partnership with BookTrust, aim to celebrate the best children’s books for families to share together.
Elizabeth Macneal’s The Doll Factory has received yet another stunning review in the run up to US publication next week. It said: “I’ve missed subway stops to finish a book, but this is the first time I almost missed a plane. The final chapters of Elizabeth Macneal’s delightfully creepy novel kept me screwed to my office chair as my wife sent irritated texts from the airport. What more could one want from a Victorian thriller?” Ron Charles, The Washington Post
Ahead of UK publication on 22nd August, Owen Nicholls’ debut romantic comedy, Love, Unscripted, has been featured in a stunning window display in Norwich.
It received a lovely review from Woman and Home, too, which called it: “An unmissable, multi-layered read.”
Holly Bourne’s bewitching middle grade novel, What Magic Is This? has been announced as a Love Reading 4 Kids’ Book of the Month.
Christi Daugherty’s international bestselling Night School Series, first published by Little, Brown in 2012, has been optioned for TV by The Intellectual Property Group.
Leah Hazard gave an interview on the Gas and Air Blog with Midwife Clemmie Hooper. They spoke about Leah’s book, Hard Pushed, her transition from Doula to Midwife, and finding the time to write.
Lara Williamson’s gorgeous middle grade novel , The Girl With Space in Her Heart was published this week by Usborne.
James Reeves and Gabrielle Brown’s insightful guide, The Book of Rest was published by HQ. It was featured in the Evening Standard this week.
Max Manning’s brilliant psychological thriller, The Victim, was published in the US this week by Sourcebooks.
Jess McGeachin’s stunning picture book, Fly, was published this week in Australia by Penguin Australia.
Brooke Harris’ powerful, emotional novel, The Forever Gift was published this week by Bookouture.
On the foreign rights front, it’s been a fabulous week for C.J. Tudor’s The Other People – Norwegian rights have sold to Cappelen Damm, Russian rights to Family Leisure Club and Czech rights have gone to Euromedia.
Japanese rights to Ashley Audrain’s The Push have sold to Hayakawa, and Ukrainian rights to Family Leisure Club. This takes the novel to 27 foreign rights deals overall – an outstanding number.
Hungarian rights to Sea Of Memories by Fiona Valpy have sold to Konyvmolykepzo.
Croatian rights to The Girl With No Past by Kathryn Croft have gone to Stilus Knjiga.
