Fans of crime fiction have voted in their thousands to crown The Chalk Man by C. J. Tudor the winner of The Cabot Cove Award at the The Dead Good Reader Awards 2018.
The ceremony was held last Friday 20th July at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate, and was hosted by fellow thriller author Mark Lawson.
The Chalk Man received the highest votes in its category, which included five other shortlisted books, to claim the accolade for Best Small Town Mystery. C. J. Tudor was in great company: other winners on the night included brand authors, such as Lee Child and Clare Mackintosh, who won The Wringer Award and The Whodunnit Award respectively.

The Dead Good Reader Awards take place each year at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival. Now in its 15th year, the festival celebrates internationally acclaimed, award-winning crime fiction, and is regularly attended by authors, agents, publishers and readers in the crime-writing community.
