As Harrogate Crime Writing Festival kicks off today, it’s only appropriate that we share the exciting news that Sleep (Avon / HarperCollins) by C. L. Taylor has now sold over 12,000 copies in hardback. 12,001 copies, to be precise!
Even though C. L. Taylor is definitely one of the most celebrated crime writers in the industry, Sleep is her first hardback; this makes the achievement even more fabulous.
It’s not only selling brilliantly in hardback though. eBook sales are now at over 21,000, with the digital edition the highest performer in HarperCollins’ Kindle Summer Sale and sitting nicely in the top 100. In addition, Sleep reached number 7 in Bookbub on Saturday.
So all round, this book is on fire!
All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…
To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when eight guests join her, the life she’d dreamed of quickly becomes a nightmare.
Each of the guests have a secret but one of them is lying about who they are and why they’re on the island.
There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.
Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.
C. L. Taylor will be attending Harrogate Crime Writing Festival this weekend, along with a host of other MM Agency authors. She has been shortlisted for a Dead Good Readers Award, along with C. J. Tudor (who won last year), Mark Edwards and Fiona Barton. Mel Sherratt will be hosting a table at the Cooking up a Murder event, and Robin Morgan-Bentley will be handing out copies of his proofs in a special event to mark his debut The Wreckage (Hachette / Orion).
On Saturday, you will be able to climb aboard a fire engine to meet Will Shindler, and pick up a proof of his debut The Burning Men (Hachette / Hodder & Stoughton).
So an exciting time all round, made even more so by the wonderful sales figures for C. L. Taylor’s Sleep.
