We’re thrilled to announce that Sally Kim, SVP at Putnam, Penguin Random House, and Lara Hinchberger, Executive Editor at Penguin Canada, will be publishing The Garden by Nick Newman after acquiring US and Canadian rights respectively in a competitive five-way auction. UK rights were acquired in a pre-empt by Kirsty Dunsheath, Publisher at Doubleday, who will be publishing The Garden as a major lead title in 2025.
The Garden is the speculative adult fiction debut from Nick Newman (the adult fiction pseudonym for Costa Prize-shortlisted children’s author Nicholas Bowling) about two self-exiled elderly sisters living a carefully protected existence in a large walled garden, based on the tenets of an almanac left behind by their mother, whose lives are called into question with the mysterious arrival of a young boy.
