We’re overjoyed that Lizzie Pook‘s stunning debut, Moonlight and the Pearler’s Daughter, has been longlisted for the Historical Writers’ Association Debut Crown Award 2022.

This award celebrates the best debut historical writing, fiction and non-fiction, published in the UK and its ability to engage, illuminate, entertain and inform legions of readers.

The judges said of Moonlight and the Pearler’s Daughter: “[A] Breathtaking adventure story and a moving testimony to the lengths we go to for the people we love. Set in the halcyon days of Australia’s lucrative pearl industry in the late 1800’s.  Atmospheric, eerie, fascinating, and with a great sense of place mystery and intrigue.”

Congratulations, Lizzie! The shortlist will be announced on October 25th, with the awards ceremony taking place on November 23rd.
