We’re thrilled to announce that Kehinde Fadipe’s fabulous debut novel will be publishing in 2023.
Titled, In Such Tremendous Heat, Dialogue Books will publish the UK edition in June 2023 while the US edition, which was excitingly pre-empted by Grand Central, will follow shortly after in September, under the title The Sun Sets In Singapore.
The book follows three expats living in Singapore’s non-stop sunshine, low tax rate and crocodile Birkins on every other arm. Dara, Amaka, and Lillian are living the #BlackGirlMagic dream-until their carefully constructed lives are upended by a handsome-and mysterious-new arrival.
UK editor, Amy Baxter, said: ‘It’s been such a joy to work on such a sharp, witty, transportive novel. At a time when the world feels stuck in sepia and misery, entering into Kehinde’s Singapore has been a fun and sexy escape. That this debut author has been able to balance such difficult topics as class and career, infidelity and infertility, with beautiful insights into the power of female friendships, fills me with awe and excitement. I can’t wait for it to be out in the world next year!’
Kehinde Fadipe said: I’m so thrilled to be able to birth my first book and I’ve loved working with this incredible team: my dream agent Hayley Steed, Amy at Dialogue and Rachael at Grand Central, all of whom have been amazing and have turned what is sometimes a lonely journey into a delight. I hope readers enjoy disappearing into this world and that it brings a sliver of joy to their day.
Kehinde’s agent, Hayley Steed said: “Kehinde’s characters are the kind who leap off the page from the second you meet them, and never let you go. Between all three women, I found myself drawn into the atmospheric setting of sweltering Singapore as the tensions in all of their lives bubble over. It’s a stunning, smart, thoughtful and fun read, and Amy and the team at Dialogue’s vision for its publication was unparalleled.”
Congratulations Kehinde, on such fabulous news!
