Four brilliant Agency authors have been included in the Independent‘s “10 best debut novels that are so good you won’t put them down” round up.
Beth Morrey’s Saving Missy, Stephanie Wrobel’s The Recovery of Rose Gold, Abbie Greaves’ The Silent Treatment and The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal made up nearly half of those featured.
Beth Morrey’s debut Saving Missy, which was published in hardback last month by HarperFiction / HarperCollins, has spent three consecutive weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller list, last week at No. 10. The article called it “A thought-provoking, uplifting read that is far from predictable”. Saving Missy has previously been featured in the Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph, and more recently, Morrey was chosen as one of the Observer’s “Best Debut Novelists of 2020“.
The Recovery of Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel was published in hardback last week by Michael Joseph / Penguin Random House. Ahead of publication, the novel was heralded by the likes of Lee Child, J.P. Delaney and Lisa Jewell, as well as being included in countless 2020 round ups. The Independent article said: “Told in alternating chapters by Rose Gold and Patty, this is a dark, nerve-jangling read that kept us on the edge of our seats till the very end.”
Abbie Greaves’ The Silent Treatment is published on 2nd April by Cornerstone / Penguin Random House. The novel has already received stunning reviews from Kirkus (“A sometimes-hopeful, often heartbreaking look at the difficult and beautiful moments of parenting and marriage”), Jojo Moyes and Josie Silver (amongst many more) as well as being included in numerous 2020 round ups. The article said: “Greaves’s insightful account of a long marriage kept us gripped till the very last page.” We’re so excited for this stunning novel to hit the shelves.
And finally, Elizabeth Macneal’s The Doll Factory, which was published in paperback last week, was also featured: “This darkly atmospheric book, just out in paperback, whisks you right to the heart of 1850s London, from its seedy back streets to the elegant world of the Pre-Raphaelites“. Following hardback publication, this brilliantly evocative novel reached No. 1 in the Times and No. 2 in The Sunday Times, was a Radio 2 Book Club pick, a Radio 4 Book at Bedtime pick, and has been chosen as the Waterstones Book of the Month for March. To date, the novel has been sold into 30 territories.
