Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman is a No.1 New York Times Bestseller for the third week running.
Just three weeks after its US publication Eleanor has further cemented its place as the book of the moment Stateside. On this side of the pond, it once again reached number 4 in the paperback charts this week, having sold 16,200 paperbacks and 6,523 ebooks, bringing the cumulative totals to over 470,000 paperbacks and nearly 268,000 eBooks sold.
Eleanor is also making waves in Italy where it reached no.7, securely keeping its position in the top ten chart for the third week.
Last Friday, the book won the 2018 Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award, which is awarded to the debut novel of a British, Irish or UK-based author. Guest adjudicator A. L. Kennedy was quoted in The Bookseller as saying: “The use of humour is deft and slyly leads the reader deeper into the narrative and Oliphant’s wonderfully bizarre and well-rendered world.”
In addition, the book was voted the winner of this year’s Waverton Good Read Award, an annual award for British and Irish debut novels. Past winners include Mark Haddon, Gavin Extence and Marina Lewycka.
The novel has now been in the UK top 10 for 32 weeks, and has also won the Costa First Novel Award and two British Book Awards.
