And Other Stories to publish  Karishma Jobanputra’s “psychologically fearless” short story collection, THE BODY OF THE THING

And Other Stories has snapped up a “psychologically fearless” debut short story collection by Karishma Jobanputra.

Senior fiction editor Tara Tobler acquired exclusive English language rights in the UK, Commonwealth (excluding Canada) and Europe from Liv Maidment at Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, and the book will be published in 2026.

The Body of the Thing unpicks the hierarchies that thrum under our relationships, from first loves and lusts to motherhood and miscarriages, sexual awakenings to coming face to face with our own mortality. Moving from bougie neighbourhoods in Manhattan to the sun-drenched piazzas of Italy, from the idyllic coast of Maine to the bustling city of London, these stories illuminate what it means when women’s bodies are valued for their beauty and youth, dismissed and discarded when ill, or made useful as parents and caregivers.

Jobanputra is a graduate of Columbia University’s MFA Fiction programme, and has been listed for the Brick Lane Bookshop Short Story Prize and for the Disquiet Literary Prize for Fiction.
