Nita Prose‘s debut novel The Maid  has claimed the No.2 spot on the New York Times hardback bestseller list, and is the fifth biggest bestseller on the combined print and eBook list.

This is an utterly extraordinary feat for a debut – described in the New York Times as ‘an endearing debut… [with] real emotional heft’ – on only the second week of publication. The Maid also hit No.1 in Canadian Fiction and in Original Fiction on the Toronto Star bestseller lists.

This comes at the end of a week which saw Nita Prose featuring on Good Morning America as the January Book Club Pick. Catch up on Nita’s inspiring interview here:

The Maid was published in the UK this week, and has been translated into 31 languages.

This incredible debut, which Good Morning America labelled a ‘hopeful murder mystery’, is destined for the big screen too, with film rights having been optioned by Universal Pictures, and oscar-nominated Florence Pugh set to star as the leading lady, Molly the maid.

Congratulations, Nita! And if you have not yet ordered your copy, you can do so here in the UK, here in the US, and if you’re in Nita’s home country of Canada you can buy here.
