Anna O by Matthew Blake has taken the world by storm and has become an official international bestseller, instantly charting on both Norway and the Netherland’s bestseller charts upon publication.

Matthew has been invited to speak about his electrifying debut Anna O at a number of European events this spring and summer, which began with the Oslo Crime Festival (Krimfestivalen) in March. Krimfestivalen is described by the Guardian as ‘one of the best crime-writing festivals in the world,’ and celebrates Norway’s renowned love for crime fiction. Each year, the festival hosts more than 40 authors across 30 events. Matthew was a star guest on the Bloody Lunch panel with S.A. Cosby and following the event, Anna O was reviewed on Norwegian prime-time news.

This month, Matthew hosted the ‘Anna O Reading Club’ in Spain, along with bookshop visits and signings across Barcelona and Valencia, finishing the trip with talks and interviews at the famous Spanish crime festival Valencia Negra. During his time in Spain, Matthew also had six major newspaper interviews.

In September Anna O‘s tour will continue at the Zagreb Festival of World Literature, which over the past 11 years has hosted authors from over 30 countries, such as Olga Tokarczuk, Svetlana Alexievitsch, Georgi Gospodinov, David Lagercrantz, and Leila Slimani, showcasing the best of literature’s international talent.

Among many other international features, such as in WPROST (Poland) and Hebban,(the Netherlands), Matthew was also recently interviewed for a feature piece in La Lettura, a prominent Italian literary newspaper, which described Anna O as ‘controversial and irresistible’ as well as for Vanity Fair Italy, and was also pictured on the front page of La Repubblica. Between 2024 and 2025 Anna O will hit the shelves in 34 markets around across the globe.
