Not long after scooping one stateside gong last week, C.J. Tudor was there to collect the ITW award for the Best First Novel at a star-studded gala during ThrillerFest in New York on Saturday night.

C.J. Tudor was ‘honoured, thrilled, bemused, amazed and totally bowled over’ to win the award for her bestselling debut The Chalk Man, which is published by Crown / Penguin Random House in the US. The book has fans far and wide, including Stephen King, who said of the book, ‘If you like my stuff, you’ll like this’ .

The ITW awards are run by the International Thriller Writers, an honorary society of authors that help promote the genre globally, and having been up against other debut authors such as Jack Carr, Karen Cleveland, Ellison Cooper and Catherine Steadman this really is such a fantastic accolade for Tudor and her book.

This success closely followed another prize, this time for Best Debut Novel at the Strand Critics Awards 2019. And not long before that all three of C.J. Tudor’s novels, The Chalk ManThe Taking of Annie Thorne and the not-yet-published The Other People were ranking in the Top 20 of Amazon’s Horror and Suspense category, with The Taking of Annie Thorne at No. 1 across three categories: the Classic Horror category, the Horror Fiction Classics category and the Horror Thrillers.

A busy and exciting time for author and books, and we look forward to the publication of the Other People 23rd January 2020.
