We’re delighted to announce that Orion Spring, Orion’s health and well-being imprint, has acquired two books by leading international yoga, qigong and mindfulness teacher, Mimi Kuo-Deemer.

Mimi – who is ‘thrilled to help those who are keen to understand how ancient Chinese approaches to exercise and self-care can lead to greater balance, clarity and well-being’ – is an internationally-recognised teacher of yoga, qigong and mindfulness meditation. She has practised and taught for over 20 years in China, the UK, Europe and the United States. She also co-founded Yoga Yard, Beijing’s first and leading yoga studio, and is a senior teacher at London’s triyoga. Her books will bring these areas to a new audience and show us how to apply them for the benefit of our everyday lives.

Mimi’s first book, Qigong and the Tai Chi Axis: Nourishing Practices for Body, Mind and Spirit, will explore the ancient Chinese arts of ‘movement meditation’ that have recently seen a surge in popularity. It will offer readers accessible practices and wisdom to support the body’s natural capacity for energy, balance and well-being.

Her second book, Xiu Yang: Self-Cultivation for a Healthier, Happier and more Balanced Life delves deeper into ancient Chinese philosophy and will examine the Daoist concept of smoothing out roughness and irregularities, as practised by China’s earliest emperors and sages to restore balance, ease and peace in their lives, homes and communities.

Orion Spring’s Olivia Morris is looking forward to helping Mimi ‘publish a modern take on Qigong and Tai Chi and launch 2019’s hottest lifestyle concept, this time from ancient China.’

Anna Hogarty, Mimi’s agent here at Madeleine Milburn, commented:  ‘I’m delighted that Orion Spring will be publishing these books by Mimi, bringing these Chinese approaches to a whole new group of readers interested in grounding techniques for self-care.’

Publication of Qigong is due in December 2018, and Xiu Yang in Spring 2019.
