
Madeleine Milburn Ltd is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and highly-motivated Children’s & YA Associate Agent to assist with our fantastic stable of children’s and YA authors whilst building their own list and growing the agency’s ever-expanding children’s and YA Department.
This vital role is best suited for someone with at least two or three years’ experience working as an assistant in the relevant area, with a desire to make the next step in their career to become an agent. A proven track record of administrative excellence, the ability to talent spot and a passion for YA and Children’s books are essential.
As part of a dynamic team your role will demand consistent and attentive author care, the hunger to build a list quickly, a sense of urgency coupled with an aptitude for calm, an articulate phone and writing style, a desire to learn and to initiate, and outstanding organisational standards helped by a keen eye for detail.
This is an ideal chance to work alongside and learn from a top Children’s and YA agent while making the most of our numerous and diverse submissions. The right candidate has the potential to progress quickly within a highly ambitious yet approachable team.
Alongside building a list, responsibilities include (but are not limited to): working alongside Chloe Seager to help manage the submissions inbox, giving extensive editorial feedback on manuscripts, assisting with contracts, chasing payments, administering the Children’s and YA department’s social media accounts and keeping the database and website up to date (with regards to children’s authors only).
