The Agency loves it when readers are as taken with our authors’ books as we are. Which is why it’s fantastic to announce that the superstar historical fiction writer, Fiona Valpy, has surpassed half a million sales of The Beekeeper’s Promise (Amazon Publishing / Lake Union).
This news comes as absolutely no surprise, considering Fiona’s phenomenal track record. To date, she has sold well over a million copies across her titles. Just last month, we announced that The Dressmaker’s Gift, one of her more recent titles, had also sold half a million copies – in its first year, no less.
Fiona has always shown a remarkable talent for capturing the drama of different eras in history, whilst illuminating the humanity of those inhabiting them. Published in May 2018, The Beekeeper’s Promise is a winsome, sentimental novel which seamlessly flows between the past and present. The reader follows Abi, whose searching for a rural escape from her shattered relationship. She becomes consumed with the life and love story of another young woman, who inhabited the very same French chateau decades earlier, on the cusp of World War Two.
Following its release, the book was shortlisted for an RNA Romantic Novel Award, and fans couldn’t stop praising Fiona’s creativity and depth:
“Beautifully written… although you might want to follow the lives of these two women from chapter to chapter, it’s worth reading slowly and enjoying the wordy, well thought out and researched writing of the author.” Amazon reviewer, 5 stars
“Thank you, Fiona. It is an absolute perfect pleasure to read this wonderful delivery of The Beekeepers Promise. Thank you for this truly comfortable, caring, learning experience. You left me the better for it.” Amazon reviewer, 5 stars
“This book absolutely captivated me. I felt I was actually there with the characters and felt so emotional in parts… I just wanted to move to France and buy a Chateau!! Dreams! This book is beautifully written – I would give it 10 stars and more. Can’t recommend this book enough.” Amazon reviewer, 5 stars
“This is story telling at its best, with love and sadness, terror and peace, and the strength that can survive the evils of war, and the tyranny of sadistic men (or women).” Amazon reviewer, 5 stars
