Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman is a No.1 Publishers Weekly bestseller, having sold 16,075 copies to top their trade paperback chart in the States this week. The book has sold over a quarter of a million copies across all formats since its US publication in June, and is a No.4 New York Times bestseller this week, securing its position in the top five.
In the UK, the debut sold 19,515 paperbacks this week, a 1000 copy increase on the previous week, and it sits firmly at No.2 in the charts, on the tail of Origin by brand author Dan Brown.
Domestic sales of the novel thus far bring its total TCM to 544,137 paperbacks, and in digital 6,792 additional copies of the eBook have been purchased, a jump in sales of 150 units on the previous week.
Enthusiasm for Eleanor remains buoyant in Italy. Tuttolibri, a weekly cultural supplement in the Italian newspaper La Stampa hailed Eleanor as the “cult book of the summer”. The book has risen to No.3 in the foreign fiction charts there.
Eleanor is also proving popular further afield in Australia, where it has been in the top ten for nine weeks. Currently, Eleanor is a No.5 bestseller overall, No.3 in the fiction chart and takes the No.1 ranking in the Indies chart.
Similarly, in New Zealand, the book has been in the top ten for fourteen weeks, and is a No.1 bestseller in their international fiction chart.
In Ireland, Eleanor remains a No.1 bestseller in the whole market, and it has flourished in the Irish rankings for a total of 21 weeks.
