Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is No.1 in the UK Official Top 50 once again this week, making this Gail Honeyman’s fifth non-consecutive week as the overall bestseller, and her tenth week as Mass Market Fiction No. 1. The novel is also No.1 again in the Irish bestseller chart.
In this week alone, the novel has sold 24,729 copies of the paperback and 10,943 ebooks, bringing the totals to 248,000 paperbacks and 170,000 ebooks sold in the UK so far. Cathleen MacCarron’s award-winning narration on the audiobook is continuing to prove popular, selling over 50,000 copies, half of which have been since the beginning of 2018. Across all formats and editions, the title has sold over 600,000 copies in the UK & Commonwealth territories.
The Bookseller in particular noted it’s impressive ten-week run in the Mass Market Fiction chart: “Only Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, E L James’ Fifty Shades of Grey and Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train have spent longer in the top spot. And those four titles all shifted well in excess of a million copies apiece.”
Alongside its incredible sales success, the novel has been longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize for New Fiction, shortlised for three British Book Awards and nominated for the Women’s Prize, as well as the Author’s Club Best First Novel Award.
