Simon Cherry‘s hilarious opener to the Eddy Stone series Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-up has been shortlisted for the 2017 Laugh Out Loud Awards.

The LOLLIES, organised by Scholastic, was launched last year to celebrate the best funny books in children’s literature, with David Baddiel as the inaugural winner. In its second year, the award has three categories: picture books, 6-8s and 9-13s. Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-up is in the 6-8s, alongside Thimble Monkey Superstar by Jon Blake and Martin Chatterton (Firefly), Hamish and the Neverpeople by Danny Wallace and Jamie Littler (Simon & Schuster) and Future Ratboy and the Invasion of the Nom Noms by Jim Smith (Egmont).

The fantastic Michael Rosen, Kate Thistleton and Nicolette Jones judged the shortlist, but the winners will be decided by young readers. We can’t wait for the award ceremony in January – huge congratulations, Simon!
