Rupert WallisI am delighted to reveal the UK publisher for Rupert Wallis’ haunting YA début, THE DARK INSIDE.  Ingrid Selberg from Simon & Schuster acquired UK & Commonwealth rights in two books at the London Book Fair.  The deal was recently announced in The Bookseller.

The story follows 13-year-old James as he tries to find a “cure” for a dark curse inflicted on an outcast.  The pair embark on a journey together not knowing that what they discover will impact them both in ways they never imagined.  It’s a gripping, haunting story about loss and hope, one which many people are saying will win literary prizes.

Rupert read Theology at Cambridge University and holds an MFA in Screenwriting and Writing for Television from the University of Southern California.  In 2011 he was one of the top five novelists chosen from the South West of England for a mentorship programme funded by the Arts Council.  He currently lives in Cornwall.

S&S UK will publish THE DARK INSIDE in hardback early next year closely followed by a paperback edition.
