The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss gets TV Series Greenlight by Hallmark

An official announcement, Deadline shared that a six-episode limited series is in the works for Hallmark based on The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss.

The series comes from Dynamic Television, with executive producers Erin Rodman and Davah Avena, and producers Carrie Stein and Dan March for Dynamic Television and David McLoughlin for Metropolitan Pictures. The series is produced by John Wallace.

Mae Whitman will join Mary McDonnell and Jane Seymour starring in The Twelve Dates of Christmas (working title). It will also star Julian Morris (The Morning Show, Pretty Little Liars), Toby Sandeman (Running Point, The Game) and Nathaniel Parker.

Production on the limited holiday series has begun in Dublin, Ireland, with the show planned to make its world premiere on Hallmark during Countdown to Christmas and next day streaming on Hallmark+.

In a statement shared by Deadline, Samantha DiPippo, Senior Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Media said: “Erin and Davah’s brilliant adaptation of Jenni Bayliss’ beloved book not only transports viewers to the romantic English countryside but immerses them in the unique magic of the holiday season in London.” She continues saying, “the amazing cast we’ve assembled to bring to life these richly textured, relatable characters who experience a life-changing Christmas is the shining star on top of this tree.”

The Twelve Dates of Christmas published in 2020.

When it comes to relationships, thirty-four-year-old Kate Turner is ready to say “Bah, humbug.” The sleepy town of Blexford, England, isn’t exactly brimming with prospects, and anyway, Kate’s found fulfillment in her career as a designer, and in her delicious side job baking for her old friend Matt’s neighborhood café. But then her best friend signs her up for a dating agency that promises to help singles find love before the holidays. Twenty-three days until Christmas. Twelve dates with twelve different men. The odds must finally be in her favor . . . right?

Yet with each new date more disastrous than the one before–and the whole town keeping tabs on her misadventures–Kate must remind herself that sometimes love, like mistletoe, shows up where it’s least expected. And maybe, just maybe, it’s been right under her nose all along. . . .
