The wait is finally over! We’re absolutely thrilled that Anna O, the riveting debut novel by Matthew Blake, publishes today in North America with HarperCollins US/Harper Canada.

Anna O tells the story of Anna Ogilvy, a young writer suffering from ‘resignation syndrome’ – a rare functional psychosomatic disorder that leads to the murder of two people – all done while Anna is asleep.

The thriller ignited an international rights frenzy when it went on submission, receiving 16 offers in just 48 hours of submission and hitting a total of 23 territories within a fortnight. It has now sold in over thirty territories. UK and Commonwealth rights were snapped up by HarperFiction, US rights to Harper US, and Canadian rights to Harper Canada. Anna O has been making a storm ahead of publication, having been selected as an Indie Next Pick for January 2024. To add to this excitement, the thriller has also been chosen as an Amazon BOTM for January 2024, and is the January Sarah Selects Book Club pick by Amazon – both of which are incredible achievements for a debut. Matthew also enjoyed a pre-publication tour in North America in October, which saw fantastic demand for the thriller.

The novel has also received a raft of rave review already, including a starred review from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly:

“An irresistible concept beautifully executed—certain to be one of the year’s best thrillers.”  Lee Child

Anna O reads like a dream but unsettles like a nightmare.” A.J. Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window

“A riveting, unsettling crime novel that will keep you turning pages well past your bedtime.” Nita Prose, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Maid and The Mystery Guest

“This one gets in your head. I may never sleep again.”
— J.D. Barker, New York Times Bestselling author of Behind a Closed Door
