Dorothy Price is Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art and Visual Culture at the Courtauld and Fellow of the British Academy. She was previously Professor of History of Art at the University of Bristol, and was the first woman of colour to be appointed to a Chair in Art History at a Russell Group university. As Professor of History of Art at Bristol, Price was also a founder member and inaugural Director of the Centre for Black Humanities. Price has served as Editor of Art History, the journal of the Association for Art History. She founded the Tate/Paul Mellon Centre’s British Art Network subgroup on Black British Art and is lead curator for the Royal Academy of Arts’ forthcoming exhibition, Making the Modern. She currently lives between Somerset and London with her partner, their daughter and two pet rabbits.
