C J Lin is a Taiwanese-American entrepreneur and scientist, whose family has been farming tea and pineapple in Taiwan for four generations. Her father and grandfather farmed and harvested tea, while her uncle still makes oolongs in his micro factory. C J Lin has informally studied the art of tea ceremony under her aunt, who is a recognised gong fu cha master in Taiwan.
In 2016, she started her award-winning tea company, Marulin, in London. Marulin focuses on teas produced from her family and friends. Since starting the company, she has been highly commended for Sophie Coe Prize for Food Writing and shortlisted for the Yan-Kit So Memorial Award for Food Writers on Asia. She currently teaches the Taiwanese tea masterclass at the UK Tea Academy and lectures on tea and entrepreneurship at universities around the world.
