What I'm Looking For

I represent literary, upmarket, and book club fiction. I really admire writers who have a commitment to craft and style in their work, and I am drawn to books that utilize a strong hook or a unique voice to explore compelling themes. Above all, I want to see books that combine masterful writing, vivid characters, and emotional depth with well crafted plot.

I love literary fiction with an original insight and perspective that puts the peculiarity of life under an original microscope. I enjoy novels that explore identity, messy relationships, and complicated lives, or the inclusion of compelling social, cultural, historical, or political themes. I love global narratives,  family and multi-generational stories, and books with a cause told with a lot of heart. I am also keen to find sweeping novels that are epic in scale and scope, and fiction that uses individual stories to explore moments of wider societal change.

For upmarket and book club fiction, I’m looking for smart, voice-led contemporary fiction with a literary sensibility and wide appeal. I love discovering books with conversation-starting questions at the heart of them that get people talking, with characters, settings, and storytelling that you won’t forget.

I also love literary leaning fiction that blends with elements of genre, in particular novels with shades of the speculative, magical realist, or horror. For me, writing in this area needs to be grounded in the human stories at the heart of the novel, and I really enjoy books with big imaginations.
